Damara
Originating from Angola and Northern Namibia, the Damara is a very hardy Fat-tail breed of sheep that sheds its winter coat of long hair and wool for a more practical short sleek hair coat for the summer eliminating fly strike problems. Unlike other breeds of sheep, Damaras have not undergone colour selection and so come in every colour and colour combination possible. Once in good numbers throughout their home countries, South Africa and Australia, the Damara now faces extinction through indiscriminate cross breeding.
